A little over a month ago, the lovely and talented Tim Hutchings had a solo show at I-20 Gallery in New York. It was super. I really liked the song Tim used in his Battle of The Mass video. So I’m at the show and I go, “hey Tim, what’s the song you used in that video?” He didn’t answer my question, because he was too busy receiving accolades from some artsy-fartsy types. I was about to throw myself to the ground and go into full on temper-tantrum mode when Tim’s lovely and talented wife, Mandy, came to the rescue. “It’s Charlie McAlister,” she said. She went on to tell me that he only releases his music on cassette tape. Wow, even better! If you don’t already know, I have a soft spot for cassette tapes – please check out my other music sharing endeavor, Tape Safari, which can be heard on the Future Shipwreck blog: podcast #1 and podcast #2. Mandy promised to make me a Charlie McAlister mix. I’m still waiting for it, but in the meantime I tracked down one song via the interweb. It’s pretty special and I hope you like it.
